Aust stocks down 1pct at noon after =3 Melbourne
AAPT was 26 cents lower at $9.34 by 1235 AEST, with Cable & Wireless Optus down 29
cents to $5.85.
Market heavyweight News Corp had tumbled 99.1 cents to $20.90, with its preferred scrip
down 70.5 cents to $17.80.
Kerry Packer's PBL lost 59 cents to $12.41 and Fairfax eased 10 to $5.70.
Seven Network was seven cents lower at $7.14 by 1237 AEST.
The aggressive build-up of Seven Network Ltd's Internet company was set to continue,
with its chief executive flagging a number of new deals yesterday.
Among other industrials, Brambles shed $1.00 to $43.80, Lend Lease fell 20 cents to
$18.40 and Coles Myer lost 14 cents to $6.36.
But Amcor gained 2.4 cents to $6.24, Woolworths was seven cents higher at $5.48 and
Foster's added six to be at $4.15 by 1239 AEST.
The big losers among the technology stocks included SecureNet, down $1.40 to $8.50,
and Keycorp, which lost $1.28 to $11.26.
Open Telecommunications shed $1.37 to $8.70, MYOB fell $1.25 to $14.95, Solution 6
was 39.5 cents lower at $7.96 and Melbourne IT lost 39 cents to $9.60.
