Vic: Ford workforce returns to work
Ford Australia employees have returned to work after the company last week stood down
workers and lost several days production following strike action at its radiator supplier.
About 1,870 workers at the Broadmeadows plant returned to work on Friday and 1,930 workers
at Geelong resumed normal duties today.
Ford was prevented from producing more than 800 cars last week as strike action at
radiator supplier Natra took effect, forcing the car giant to stand down its manufacturing
workers.
Supplies are again expected to be strained tomorrow when manufacturing workers take
action in pursuit of better wages and conditions in their Campaign 2000.
Ford spokeswoman LOUISE TEESDALE says the company is optimistic that no further stand
downs will be necessary.
