Fed: Construction work slows in December quarter

CANBERRA, Feb 27 AAP - Construction work slowed in the final three months of last year
in response to higher interest rates, economists say.

Construction work in the December quarter fell by a seasonally-adjusted 1.0 per cent,
compared with the previous quarter, to $28,854 billion, according to the Australian Bureau
of Statistics (ABS).

Economists had expected a two per cent increase.

The data feeds into next week's national accounts report for the December quarter.
